“While on routine patrol in the area of US Highway 62/412 on the “Flippin Bypass” I observed a white Ford Fusion traveling west at a high rate of speed. Radar confirmed a speed of 80 in a 55 mph zone. I noticed the vehicle immediately slow when it saw me. I turned around and the vehicle accelerated before turning onto Hwy 62 B and then onto Marion County 7041. I initiated my emergency lights and siren. The vehicle then turned and crossed a field before it reentered Hwy 62 B and nearly had a collision with a box truck that was traveling east on US 62 B. The suspect vehicle had to drive on the oncoming side of the road and through the ditch to avoid a “head on” collision with the truck. The vehicle accelerated toward Flippin, AR and I determined based on its reckless driving and speeds in excess of 80 mph in a 55 zone that a TVI (tactical vehicle intervention) was necessary. As I moved into position to execute the maneuver the vehicle braked hard causing me to run into the rear of the vehicle and causing substantial damage. It then accelerated into Flippin City Limits at speeds in excess of 75 mph in a 35 mph zone. The vehicle was driving in an erratic manner and applying its brakes as well as swerving. His driving was consistent with that of a person who is impaired. It then turned northon Hwy 178 before turning west onto Business Center Drive. The vehicle then turned north into a large field and made a circle. During the chase in the field, I briefly lost sight of the vehicle. I was advised by radio that Flippin PD was in pursuit of it in the First Service Bank parking lot across from the Flippin Elementary School. I entered Hwy 178 to the north of the Business Center Drive and saw the suspect vehicle traveling north avoiding the Flippin Police Dept. units. I blocked his path with a successful TVI ending the pursuit. The suspect was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody. He was identified as William Jared Allison. Mr. Allison was transported by ambulance to Baxter Regional Medical Center. He was treated for minor injuries and released a short time later. Charges: 5-2-201 5-10-103 Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder Class B Felony 5-54-125 Fleeing in a vehicle with substantial risk Class D Felony 5-65-103 DWI 4th Unclassified Felony 27-53-102 Leaving the scene of a collision Class A Misdemeanor 27-50-308 Reckless Driving resulting in injury Class B Misdemeanor 5-65-105 Driving on Suspended for DWI Unclassified Misd. 27-50-302 Speeding in excess of 15 mph over the speed limit Class C Misdemeanor”
