Let’s take ride across the water to Japan’s Central Circuit race track for some Japanese No Prep racing action! That Racing Channel was privileged to be on hand for the famed Super Drag Festival and the JDM(s) showed up to handle business. In Japan, “zeroyon” (0‑400 m) drag races became popular in the ’90s and early 2000s, often held on runways or straightaways—Central Circuit being one such venue. After dedicated strips like Sendai Hi‑Land shuttered (due to the 2011 earthquake), tracks like Central picked up the slack. Today the culture is being kept alive by enthusiast from around the globe and their continued support of events like this. So grab your popcorn, pop those earbuds in and get ready for some of the nastiest JDM action you’ve ever seen! “In this episode, TRC goes to Super Drag Festival at Central Circuit in Japan! This isn’t just another event for us, it’s a full-circle moment. The same streets and tracks that sparked our love for imports years ago are now in front of our lenses. Some of the very first tuner drag videos we ever watched came from Japan, and now we’re here filming it ourselves! Drag racing in Japan may not be in the spotlight like drifting or circuit racing, but it has deep roots. In the ’80s and ’90s, the scene started with “zeroyon”, 400-meter street races late at night. Tuners built GT-Rs, Supras, RX-7s, Civics, anything they could launch hard and run straight. Eventually, the street scene gave way to the track. That’s where Central Circuit came in. Since opening in 1996, it’s become the home of Japanese drag racing, featuring the only full 400-meter strip in the country. Events like Super Drag Festival continue to bring together racers, tuners, and fans to keep the culture alive! Big shoutout to John @japgozoom for helping us with translations and coordination at the event! He exports cars and parts from Japan, so if you’re interested, be sure to hit him up! linktr.ee/japgozoom”
