A toll booth worker in Daytona Beach (FL) was killed after a drunk driver smashed her pickup truck through a beach entrance on June 1st. “Newly released body camera footage shows the aftermath of a tragic crash that claimed the life of a toll booth worker on Daytona Beach, Florida. According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, 35-year-old Deanna Harrell is accused of driving under the influence when she crashed her pickup truck through a toll booth on June 1st, 2026. Investigators say Harrell had been drinking at a local bar before witnesses reported her driving erratically and nearly striking multiple vehicles. Authorities say toll booth worker Tammie Jo Baker had entered the booth only moments before the crash. The impact proved fatal, and emergency crews arrived within minutes. Bodycam footage shows first responders and lifeguards rushing to aid Baker before locating Harrell, who deputies say showed signs of intoxication. After the crash, Harrell allegedly continued driving down the beach before becoming stuck in the sand. Sheriff Mike Chitwood says investigators are building a vehicular homicide case and have obtained an arrest warrant. Deputies are actively searching for Harrell, who was released after being placed on a psychiatric hold following threats of self-harm.
