This may be the ultimate battle of modern American performance/muscle! Throttle House got their hands on a 2023 Chevy Corvette C8 ZO6 and decided to put it through the paces. The first video features the new ZO6 going heads up with the Ecoboost powered 2022 Ford GT. Both cars were impressive in their own right and had some tight battles on the track. The second video below features the new ZO6 facing off with the Dodge SRT Demon for some drag and roll racing. How day you think the ZO6 performed and which vehicle would you rather own?
“The 2022 Ford GT (US $660,845 when purchased) is so much more than a pretty face designed in a wind tunnel. It has a twin turbo V6 with 660 horsepower, lots of weight saving carbon fibre, and a rapidly-deploying suspension drop system along with an active rear wing that is as functional as it is dramatic. But how does it stack up against a 2023 Corvette C8 Z06 ($164,505 as specced in the US, $189,027 in Canada) which is but a fraction of the cost and has a high-revving naturally aspirated V8? Thomas and James put these two marvels of American engineering to the test.”
“The 2023 Corvette C8 Z06 ($128,000 in Canada, $106,000 in the US) is undoubtedly loud, brash, and ripping fast. But the Dodge Demon ($109,995 original msrp in Canada, $84,995 in the US) has been tearing up drag strips and revving at traffic lights since 2018. So what happens when you pit these two American monsters against one another at Willow Springs Raceway in California? The Demon has a significant power and torque advantage, but the C8 Z06 has multiple weight advantages. One being that it is simply lighter, but the other is where the weight of the engine resides – over the rear wheels. This makes it easier for the Corvette to find traction off a launch and hopefully help it avoid pesky wheel spin. Thomas takes up the helm of the Dodge Demon and James is in the C8 Z06. Things don’t always go as you might expect in a drag race!”
