The weekend is well under way in Winston Salem with today’s Madhouse Classic at Bowman Gray Stadium. As Always Bowman Gray will have no shortage of drama and carnage hence its “Madhouse” nickname. For those who don’t know here is a little history on “The Madhouse” AKA Bowman Gray Stadium. Bowman Gray Stadium is a historic sports venue located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It’s known for its unique combination of a football field and a quarter-mile asphalt oval track, making it one of the most iconic short tracks in NASCAR history. Opened in 1937, it’s nicknamed “The Madhouse” because of the intense, close-quarters racing that often leads to dramatic crashes and rivalries. The stadium is home to NASCAR’s longest-running weekly race track, with modified races being especially popular. Besides racing, it also serves as the home field for Winston-Salem State University’s football team.
