Can’t make this one up! Watch as a 63 year old elderly woman steals an ambulance and takes Arkansas State Police on a wild ride to the hospital. Apparently the woman has heart issues and was upset that she wasn’t getting sufficient healthcare. Thankfully officers were able to safely apprehend her without incident. Hopefully the county jail has some good doctors! Make sure to head over to their YouTube page below and subscribe to stay up to date on their latest videos. “On April 17th, 2026, at approximately 2:12 A.M., I, Trooper First Class Dairren Evans #573, was notified by Troop D dispatch of a stolen ambulance coming across the Interstate 40 bridge from Memphis. As I approached Ingram Boulevard, I observed multiple West Memphis marked units with emergency equipment activated, pursuing the ambulance. The ambulance traveled south on Ingram Avenue before making a right turn onto Barton Avenue, traveling west. While driving down Barton Avenue, the ambulance ran multiple stop signs and exceeded the posted speed limit while fleeing from law enforcement. I then became the primary unit involved in the pursuit near 7th Street and Barton Avenue. The ambulance made a right-hand turn onto 7th Street, traveling north. Officers with the West Memphis Police Department were staged in this location with tire I deflation devices. As the ambulance came through, the tire deflation devices were successful in impacting the passenger side of the ambulance as well as my unit. At this time, I deemed the vehicle and its driver to be a danger to other motorists on the E roadway due to their reckless operation. I attempted to perform a Tactical Vehicle Intervention on the fleeing ambulance, but was unsuccessful due to lower speeds, a larger vehicle, and my deflated passenger side tires. The ambulance then entered the Baptist Memorial Hospital on 7th Street. Upon entering the parking lot, I knew that there were normally pedestrians in the parking lot at all hours. There were parked vehicles with patients and hospital staff present inside. I did not know the intentions of the driver; therefore, to attempt to stop the ambulance from being used as a battering ram or weapon, I began to ram the rear of the ambulance to change its behavior or end its flight. Upon realizing this tactic was not working due to the ambulance’s size and weight, I positioned my patrol unit in front of the ambulance, blocking the only path available to continue fleeing. The ambulance then came to a stop. After utilizing a felony takedown, the driver, identified as Vanessa Bowen, of Arkansas, was taken into custody. Ms. Bowen openly stated during the arrest that she took the ambulance due to no one taking care of her without being questioned. In the pursuit of Ms. Bowen, my patrol unit sustained minor front-end damage and two damaged tires. Another Trooper involved sustained damage to his metal wrap-around bumper. The ambulance sustained minor body damage on the driver’s side, passenger side, and rear, as well as three damaged tires.”
