Well that escalated quickly! Watch this genuis in a Scat Pack attempt to evade Georgia State Patrol after fleeing a traffic stop. “On 12/06/24 at approximately 1906 hours, I (TFC Mathews #795) located a blue Dodge Challenger bearing Georgia tag CYZ6519 on Oakley Industrial Blvd near State Route 74, that had fled multiple times from the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office as well as the Georgia State Patrol. Due to the uncertainty of the current driver being the suspect driver who had fled in the past, I conducted a probable cause stop on the vehicle for a window tint violation as well as a tag frame violation. The vehicle slow rolled behind a tractor trailer before rapidly accelerating around it, initiating a vehicle pursuit. A unit with the Fairburn Police Department attempted a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver but was unsuccessful. The fleeing vehicle then merged onto I-85 north, avoiding Stop Sticks on the ramp and continued fleeing in a reckless manner at speeds in excess of 160 miles per hour, as it weaved through moderate traffic, showing no regard for life or property. The Atlanta Police Department Aviation Unit (Phoenix) monitored the pursuit from above and assumed radio communications. Phoenix was able to maintain the primary position until the pursuit neared the traffic pattern for Hartsfield Atlanta Airport where restricted air space prevented them from maintaining contact with the fleeing vehicle. Positive visual was lost near Camp Creek Parkway on I-85 north. Several moments later, TFC Brown #713 located the vehicle exiting an apartment complex on Washington Rd. It immediately began fleeing upon sight of his patrol vehicle. TFC Brown pursued the vehicle south on Washington Rd until it reached Camp Creek Parkway where I was stationary, stopping other traffic to prevent a collision. Once the fleeing vehicle passed me in the intersection, I assumed the primary position and I pursued the vehicle further south on Washington Rd. Cpl Bullock #884 deployed Stop Sticks again on Washington Rd near I-285 which resulted in a successful hit, deflating the vehicles tires. The fleeing vehicle continued to operate in the same reckless manner despite losing tire pressure. As the vehicle merged onto I-285 south from Washington Rd, the driver lost control of the vehicle, striking another motorist and disabling the fleeing vehicle. The driver was then taken into custody without incident and positively identified.”
