“On April 24, 2026, an Arkansas State Police trooper observed a brown Chevy sedan speeding through an active construction zone on US Highway 412 near Tontitown. Radar confirmed the vehicle traveling 77–78 MPH in a posted 45 MPH work zone. When the trooper attempted a traffic stop, the driver refused to yield and accelerated, initiating a high-speed pursuit. Speeds quickly escalated past 100 MPH and eventually exceeded 140 MPH as the suspect recklessly weaved through traffic, changing lanes multiple times and putting other drivers at risk. As the pursuit continued westbound, the driver lost control while attempting to pass another vehicle near the Illinois River. The car struck the median cable barrier, causing extensive damage, before flipping multiple times and coming to rest upside down in the roadway. Troopers responded to the crash and discovered a single occupant trapped inside the vehicle. Emergency crews arrived on scene and extricated the driver, later identified as Krista Bunch. While still trapped, the driver reportedly stated she became “spooked” and was in a hurry due to a personal matter. After being transported to the hospital and medically cleared, Bunch was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Detention Center. She now faces multiple charges, including felony fleeing, reckless driving, speeding, unsafe lane usage, and first-degree criminal mischief.”
