“A routine traffic stop on Interstate 55 quickly turned into a dangerous multi-state pursuit after an Arkansas State Police trooper attempted to stop a red Chevrolet Corvette for expired registration and an obstructed license plate. Instead of pulling over, the driver accelerated to speeds of **156 MPH**, leading troopers north into Missouri. Missouri State Highway Patrol deployed spike strips that successfully deflated the Corvette’s left-side tires, but the driver continued fleeing before exiting the interstate. As the Corvette slowed due to the damaged tires, an attempted Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) brought the pursuit to an end, disabling both the patrol vehicle and the Corvette. The driver then fled on foot carrying a backpack before surrendering to the pursuing trooper. According to the arrest report, the driver, identified as **Jayden Smith**, was found carrying multiple high-performance vehicle key fobs, including two Ram TRX key fobs and a Dodge SRT key. Troopers also recovered a small amount of suspected marijuana from inside the Corvette. While being taken into custody, Smith allegedly told officers he wasn’t worried about losing the Corvette because he would “just buy another one.” Smith was transported to the Pemiscot County Jail in Missouri pending extradition, and the Arkansas State Police say they will seek restitution for the damage sustained to the patrol vehicle during the pursuit.”
